On the eve of World Cancer Day, NIYATI–2026, a National-Level Continuing Medical Education (CME) and Faculty Development Program on “Integrative Approach to Cancer care,” was organized on 24th February 2026 by the Department of PG Studies in Kayachikitsa and the Medical Education Technology Cell of our Institution in association with Arya Vaidya Sala, Kottakkal, Kerala.

The inaugural function was graced by Dr. Ravi Krishnappa, Professor and Head, Department of Surgical Oncology, JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research (JSSAHER), Mysuru, as Chief Guest. In his key note address, he emphasized that evidence-based Ayurvedic clinical research can significantly contribute to Integrative Cancer Care and encouraged collaboration to develop integrative cancer treatment protocols to enhance the quality of life of Cancer patients.

Dr. K. M. Madhu, Chief Medical Officer, Arya Vaidya Sala, Kottakkal was the Guest of Honour and he shared the contribution of innovation and research for the challenging disease like Cancer care being taken up at Arya Vaidya Sala, Kottakkal. He was also proudly announced that the Charitable Hospital has completed 100 years of humanity service Dr. Sarbeswar Kar, Principal, in his presidential address, envisioned honourable PM Modi’s call for Integration in Medical Health Care by 2030 and highlighted the growing need for integrative oncology protocols and urged delegates to cultivate a compassionate “healing touch” while treating patients.

The scientific sessions brought together experts from conventional medicine and Ayurveda to deliberate on holistic cancer care.

Dr. Shakuntala J. Patil, Senior Ayurveda Physician & Founder RAAAUOS, spoke on the Ayurvedic Clinical Approach to Cancer with special reference to Rasaushadhi.

Dr. Sahana Ganesh, Radiation Oncologist, Bharath Hospital and Institution of Oncology, Mysuru, discussed “Radiotherapy in Head & Neck and GIT Malignancies: Scope for Integration,” outlining opportunities for Ayurveda in managing radiotherapy-induced side effects.

Dr. Shashidhar H. B., Professor Dept of Pathology, MMC&RI, Mysuru, outlined the importance of biomarkers in early cancer detection and prevention.

Prof. Dr. Syed Musthapa Meeran, Senior Principal Scientist, CSIR–CFTRI shared insights into dietary interventions and epigenetic reprogramming in cancer, including Triple-Negative Breast Cancer and its Ayurvedic correlation.

Dr. Beena M. D., Professor, Dept of PG studies in Kayachikitsa focused on the role of Ayurveda particularly Shodhana and Rasayana therapies in managing advanced-stage cancers as add on therapy in enhancing the quality of life.

The program witnessed an overwhelming response, with active participation of more than 200 delegates across India, where a significant number of 95 Oral Scientific papers were received, among which 27 Best Papers were selected.

Sri. Mahesh R, Director, Medical Education Division, JSS Mahavidyapeetha, was invited as the Chief Guest in the Valedictory function. In his valedictory address, he emphasised the importance of integrating Conventional medicine and Ayurveda to enhance patient care and quality of life. All the Best Scientific Paper Presenters were awarded.

NIYATI–2026 served as a significant knowledge platform fostering dialogue, collaboration, and innovation in integrative oncology
