‘Yoga Sangam’ Marks International Yoga Day at JSS Ayurveda Medical College, Mysuru

Suttur, June 21, 2025: JSS Ayurveda Medical College & Hospital, Mysuru, in association with the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga, Ministry of Ayush, Government of India, New Delhi, organized ‘Yoga Sangam’, a mass yoga practice programme on the occasion of the 11th International Day of Yoga, on June 21, 2025, at the college campus.
Dr. C.G. Betsurmath, Executive Secretary, JSS Mahavidyapeetha, Mysuru, inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp along with other dignitaries. In his address, he emphasized the importance of yoga and highlighted the benefits of daily yogasana practice for physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. He spoke on the origins and global recognition of International Yoga Day and commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of uniting the world through yoga. He also stressed that the practice of yoga should not be limited to just one day of celebration but should be incorporated into daily life.
Sri Jayakumar Swamyshree, Yoga Expert from Pranava Yogadhama, Mysuru, elaborated on the historical roots of yoga, shared deep insights on yogasanas, and highlighted the impact of global yoga programmes on diverse audiences.
Sri R. Mahesh, Director, Medical Education Division, JSS Mahavidyapeetha, highlighted the significance of this year’s theme, “One Earth, One Health”, and emphasized that its message should reach every household and individual to build a healthier society.
Sri Mahendra Singh Kalappa, President of the Environment Awareness Forum, was also present on the occasion.
Dr. Sarbeswar Kar, Principal and Medical Superintendent of JSS Ayurveda Medical College, presided over the programme and graced the occasion with his presence.
Kum. Ashmitha and team gave a soulful invocation to begin the event. Dr. Shivaprasad Hudeda welcomed the guests and audience, while Dr. P. Sudhakar Reddy, Nodal Officer, delivered the vote of thanks.
Over 650 participants, including students, staff, and guests, actively took part in a one-hour yoga practice session, guided by Dr. Nirmala A.R., Physician, Yoga and Naturopathy.
Dr. Madhusudan B.G. served as the master of ceremonies for the event.
