SAMSKARA – PG ORIENTATION PROGRAMME

To bridge the transition from under graduation to post graduation and mould students into a new environment and specialty subjects by facilitating a smooth and effective learning process, these objectives were identified and incorporated into the ‘SAMSKARA’ – PG Orientation Program (Transformation to Proficient Scholar) as prescribed by NCISM, New Delhi.

The program included subject areas such as life skills, personality development, code of conduct, familiarization with the campus, presentation skills, computer knowledge, entrepreneurship, and future opportunities in the field of Ayurveda, among many others.

As per the directions of the NCISM Transitional Curriculum, with the aim of making postgraduate scholars proficient through a 360-degree approach and to develop them in their respective departments, our institution hosted the ‘SAMSKARA’ – PG Orientation Program from 16th December to 02nd January 2025.

The Inaugural Ceremony was conducted on 16-12-2025 with Dr. Giridhar Parvatham, Director, CSIR-CFTRI, Mysuru as the Chief Guest, who motivated students to come up with innovative research ideas in Ayurveda. He also stressed the importance of traditional food and a healthy lifestyle and its contribution to maintaining optimal health. All new PG scholars were welcomed with a floral greeting.

For the next 15 days, an expert panel of guest speakers shared their experiences and enriched the new PG scholars on various dimensions of the Ayurveda curriculum and academics, along with career guidance. The sessions were conducted with suitable in-house and external resource persons under the expert leadership of Dr. Sarbeswar Kar, Principal, Dr. Shivaprasad Hudeda, Vice Principal, and Dr. Srihari S, Vice Principal of our institution.

  1. Dr. Shankramma from JSSAHER and Dr. Pooja Rao from CSIR-CFTRI spoke about nanotechnology and its application in Ayurveda.
  2. Dr. Hemanth from JSS College of Speech and Hearing spoke about scientific writing and report submission.
  3. Mr. Shivashankar from SJCE-STEP spoke about innovation and entrepreneurship.
  4. Sri Srihari, Founder, GSS Yogic Research Foundation, spoke about stress management and relaxation.
  5. Dr. Anzi Muhammed, Founder, Anzi’s Ayurveda Wellness Center, spoke about entrepreneurship in Ayurveda.
  6. Dr. Gnanesh, Senior Scientist, KVK, Sutturu, spoke about ICAR and agri-technologies.
  7. Dr. N. V. Krishnamurthy, Principal, Maharaja Institute of Ayurveda Medical Science, delivered a talk on clinical aspects of Ayurveda.
  8. Dr. Namitha Shivanna, Retired Librarian, JSS College of Pharmacy, spoke on digital library and e-learning resources.
  9. Shri R. Mahesh, Director, Medical Education, JSS Mahavidyapeeta, delivered a talk on dream building and goal setting.
  10. Dr. Vikram S, Professor & HOD, Sri Sri College of Ayurveda and Research Sciences, spoke about central research facilities.
  11. Dr. Archana S, Associate Professor & Co-ordinator, JSSAHER Skill Lab and Simulation Centre, gave an orientation on skill lab and simulation facilities.
  12. Dr. Vadivelan, Professor & HOD, Department of Pharmacology, spoke on animal experimentation and animal house.
  13. Dr. Seema Bhat, Professor & HOD, Sri Sri College of Ayurveda and Research Sciences, spoke about PG curriculum and PG activities.
  14. Dr. Shubhashree, Research Officer, CARI-CCRAS, Bengaluru, motivated students with insights on research in Ayurveda.
  15. Dr. Ashok Patil, Principal, BLDEA’S AVS Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya, spoke about ABDM and other AYUSH missions.
  16. Shri J. G. Venkatesh, CEO, AIMIT, spoke regarding safety app installation and their usage.
  17. Dr. Praveen Kulkarni, Vice Principal, JSS Medical College, delivered a speech on communication skills.
  18. Dr. Shekhar Annambhotla, Founder, Ojas Ayurveda Wellness Center, Pennsylvania, USA, spoke on the globalization of Ayurveda and motivated students.
  19. Dr. Ashok B. K, Senior Manager, AYUSH & Scientific Services, Himalaya Wellness Company, encouraged students regarding research in Ayurveda and corporate job opportunities.

Our esteemed in-house faculty members also delivered various lectures and oriented PG scholars on institutional hierarchy, policies, rights and responsibilities, hospital management systems, good manufacturing practices, pharmaceutical and laboratory practices, and hospital SOPs.

The Valedictory Function was held on Friday, 02-01-2026, commencing with a group photograph with the Chief Guest and other dignitaries. Dr. Sudhakar Reddy, Samskara Co-ordinator, presented the report. Dr. Prerana, Dr. Pradnya, and Dr. Vignesh shared their experiences of the PG Orientation Program.

Participation certificates were handed over to all PG scholars, and winners of various competitions such as journal presentation, clinical case presentation, seminar presentation, and program documentation were duly honoured. The valedictory address was delivered by the Chief Guest Dr. S. G. Managalgi, Former Director, Department of AYUSH, Karnataka. A total of 53 PG scholars benefited from this orientation program.

The entire 15-day Samskara Orientation Program was well coordinated and successfully executed by Dr. Maithri G. M and Dr. Subrahmanya Puranik M.
