SAKSHAM – FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME

In order to enhance the teaching–learning capabilities, professional competence, and personal effectiveness of faculty members, a three-day Faculty Development Programme titled “SAKSHAM” was organized by the Medical Education Technology Cell at our institution from 22nd to 24th December 2025. The programme was generously sponsored by BPRL Sagar Pharmacy and was conducted by the eminent academician and trainer, Dr. Hari Gupta.

The FDP was designed to align with contemporary educational needs by focusing on adult learning principles, leadership, communication, stress management, and time management. The programme witnessed active participation from teaching and non-teaching staff of the institution, reflecting a strong institutional commitment towards continuous professional development.

Objectives of the Programme

The primary objectives of the FDP were:

  • To understand and apply principles of adult learning in academic and professional settings
  • To identify challenges in adult learning and develop effective facilitation skills
  • To introduce the concept of situational leadership and its practical applications
  • To promote holistic stress prevention and management strategies
  • To enhance effective communication skills and time management
  • To improve overall personal and professional effectiveness of faculty members

Day 1 – 22nd December 2025

Morning Session: Adult Learning Principles

The programme commenced with an inaugural session followed by an in-depth discussion on adult learning principles. Dr. Hari Gupta elaborated on the characteristics of adult learners, differences between pedagogy and andragogy, and the importance of self-directed learning. Emphasis was laid on experiential learning, reflective practices, and learner-centered teaching approaches. Interactive discussions and examples from real-life teaching scenarios enriched the session.

Afternoon Session: Challenges in Adult Learning and Facilitation Skills

The afternoon session focused on identifying common challenges encountered in adult learning environments, such as learner resistance, motivation issues, and diversity in learning styles. Dr. Gupta highlighted effective facilitation skills including active listening, questioning techniques, group dynamics management, and constructive feedback. Participants engaged in discussions and reflective exercises that helped them relate theory to practice.

Day 2 – 23rd December 2025

Morning Session: Situational Leadership

The second day began with an enlightening session on situational leadership. The resource person explained various leadership styles and their applicability based on situational demands. Faculty members were guided on adapting leadership approaches in academic administration, classroom management, and teamwork. Case-based discussions enabled participants to analyze leadership challenges and appropriate responses in institutional settings.

Afternoon Session: Holistic Stress Prevention and Management

The afternoon session addressed one of the most relevant concerns in professional life—stress. Dr. Hari Gupta discussed the concept of holistic stress management, integrating physical, mental, emotional, and social dimensions of health. Techniques such as mindfulness, work–life balance, cognitive restructuring, and healthy lifestyle practices were emphasized. The session created awareness about early identification of stress and adopting preventive strategies.

Day 3 – 24th December 2025

Morning Session: Effective Communication Skills and Time Management

The final day’s morning session focused on effective communication and time management. Dr. Gupta highlighted the importance of verbal and non-verbal communication, assertiveness, empathy, and clarity in professional interactions. Time management strategies such as prioritization, goal setting, delegation, and avoidance of time-wasters were discussed. Practical tips and relatable examples helped participants assess and improve their daily professional routines.

Valedictory Programme

The FDP concluded with a valedictory programme. Participants shared their feedback and learning experiences, expressing appreciation for the relevance and practicality of the sessions. Certificates were distributed to all faculty of our Institution, marking the successful completion of the programme. The event concluded with a vote of thanks, acknowledging the sponsor, resource person, organizing committee, and participants for their valuable contributions.
