NATIONAL AYURVEDA DAY CELEBRATION 2024
As a part of the National Ayurveda day celebrations department of PG studies in Kaumarabhritya have conducted various programs in association with the NSS Unit of the institution. Programs include Campus visit, Nutritional & Health Check-up for school children (IN-HOUSE camp), School visit, Nutrition & Health Check-up (OUT-HOUSE Camp) and Mental Health awareness talk for school children.
1. HOSPITAL VISIT, NUTRITIONAL & HEALTH CHECKUP FOR SCHOOL CHILDREN (IN-HOUSE CAMP)
To promote Ayurveda and to provide basic insights of Ayurveda for school children, an in-house Campus visit & Health checkup was conducted on 22nd & 23rd October 2024. A total of 75 students from JSS High School, Sidhartha Nagar participated in this program. This inhouse activity included hospital visit, Herbal Garden visit & introduction to drugs in herbal garden in collaboration with Dept. of PG Studies in Dravyaguna. Along with the support from Dept. of Rachana Shareera, students were also given an opportunity to visit the Anatomy Museum to increase their interest towards the medical field and were oriented with basic organs and their functions in human body. Basic Nutritional assessment and health checkup were conducted for all the students and were also provided with registration cards for exclusive free consultation in the hospital for next 1 year.
2. NUTRITION & HEALTH CHECK UP (OUT-HOUSE CAMP)
As a part of Ayurveda day on 29th October 2024, a nutrition & health checkup camp was organized at Government Adarsha Vidyalaya LP School, JC Nagar, Mysuru. Under the leadership of Dr. Srihari S (Professor & HOD, Dept of PG Studies in Kaumarabhritya), along with Dr. Visal S Kumar, Dr. Preethi H M, Dr Vaisakh K (Assistant Professors) & Dr. Shashibindu (NSS program officer), a team of doctors visited the school and actively provided medical services for the children. A total of 33 students were screened for nutritional and other health issues and were provided with appropriate medicines free of cost. An orientation session for led by Dr. Srihari S (Professor & HOD, Dept of PG Studies in Kaumarabhritya), was also conducted for creating awareness about Ayurveda & Ayurveda day among School children & teachers. All the students attended were also provided with registration cards for exclusive free consultation in the hospital for next 1 year.
3. MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS TALK FOR SCHOOL CHILDREN
As a part of Ayurveda day 2024 and World mental health awareness day, a health awareness talk was conducted on 29th October 2024 for school students at Government Adarsha Vidyalaya LP School, JC Nagar, Mysuru. Dr. Preethi H M (Asst. Professor, Dept. of PG Studies in Kaumarabhritya) has led the session. A total of 33 students & 5 teachers participated in this session which highlighted the importance of mental health and also provided effective guidance for school children about routines to be followed in daily life for maintenance of physical & mental health. Also, the concerns regarding increased screen time and their negative impact in health was discussed and were provided with effective ways to reduce the screen time.
