NSS Unit- Report on NSS Special Camp

JSS Ayurveda College, Mysuru, NIYATI - Events 2023

NSS Unit of JSS Ayurveda Medical College & Hospital, Mysuru conducted 7 days NSS special camp from 26.03.2023 to 1.4.2023 at Bidaragudu village, Nanjanagudu Taluq, Mysuru.

On 26.01.2023 NSS volunteers were trained regarding Rules and activities to be followed by Sri Raghavendra R, NSS Programme officer and state award winner, Sheshadri PU College, Mysuru.

On 27.03.2023 Inaugural programme of NSS special camp done in front of Basaveshwara temple, Bidaragudu, with the divine presence of His Holiness Sri Gurulingaswamiji, Kuderumatt, Agrahara. Chief guest for the program was Ka. Shi. Mahesh, social worker, Mysuru and programme presided by Dr Sarbeshwar Kar, Principal, JSSAMC, Mysuru. Dr Rajesh A Udapudi, Dean, JSSAMC, Dr Shashibindu NSS Program officer and Dr Visal S Kumar, NSS Coordinator were present during the programme. General Ayurveda Health camp by doctors of JSSAMC&H were organized and free medicines were distributed. More than 160 health seekers were benefited by the camp.

On 28.03.2023 free Ear checkup camp were done by JSS Institute of Speech and Hearing along with Ayurveda camp and total of 130 people were benefitted. Evening health talk was given by Dr Shruthi M, Assistant professor, Department of PG studies in Prasooti Tantra & Stree Roga, JSSAMC&H, on the topic Common women health issues and home remedies. Cultural programs were given by NSS Volunteers.

0n 29.03.2023 free Dental checkup camp was conducted by JSS Dental College and hospital, Mysuru. More than 90 people were benefitted. Evening health talk was given by Dr Preethi H M, Assistant professor, Department of PG studies in Kaumarabhritya, JSSAMC&H on the topic common child health issues and home remedies. Singing and dance competitions were organized for the children and public of Bidaragudu village.

On 30.03.2023 free eye camp was organized by Vanasiri Grameenabhivruddi trust (R), Mysuru. Inauguration of this eye camp was done by His Holiness Sri Parashivamurthy Swamiji, Baradanapura Matt. A total of 175 people were benefitted. Evening health talk on the topic commonly used single drugs in various diseases was given by Dr Santosh Rangannavar, Associate Professor, Department of PG studies in Dravyaguna, JSSAMC. Cultural programs by NSS volunteers and villagers were also conducted.

On 31.03.2023 Plantation programme were conducted and more than 25 plants were planted and distributed in the village schools and temple. Medicinal plant survey was done in Bidaragudu village and in BV Pandith Dhanvantari Arogyashrama, Nanjangud. More than 150 medicinal plants species were identified and uses of these plants were explained to students by Dr Santosh Rangannavar, Associate Professor, Department of PG studies in Dravyaguna, JSSAMC. Dr Deepa C Patil, Professor, Department of PG studies in Kayachikitsa, JSSAMC and Dr Anu Krishna, Assistant Professor, Department of PG studies in Kayachikitsa, JSSAMC were given health talk to public on the topic, cleanliness in maintaining good health. Rangoli and elocution competition were organized for the children of Bidaragudu village.

On 01.04.2023 valedictory programme has been organized. Chief guest was Prof. Veeraihia K M, Retired Principal and NSS officer, Mysuru University and congratulated the team NSS JSSAMC, Mysuru for the commendable work done in the village. The programme was presided by Dr Deepa C Patil, students Coordinator, JSSAMC, Mysuru. Dr Visal S Kumar, Dr Dhanush, NSS Coordinators and Dr Aditya J V, final year BAMS class coordinator were present during the programme.

During the 7 days, more than 350 houses were surveyed regarding sanitation, common health issues, open defecation, water storage, Vaccination etc. and given awareness regarding all. NSS volunteers conducted various programs under Swachata Abhiyana like cleaning school and temple premises, school wall paintings, and participated in various health camps conducted by different organizations. Totally more than 1100 people were benefitted from the camp.
