CME ON PARKINSON’S DISEASE
A CME on Parkinson’s disease was organised by Department of PG studies in Kayachikitsa and Panchakarma of our institute on 03-08-2024.
Dr. Hemanth Toshikane, Dean Faculty of Ayurveda, Parul Institute of Ayurveda, Vadodara, Gujarat, was the Chief Guest and Dr. Lakshmikanth, Professor, Department of PG studies in Shalya tantra, BMK AMC, Belgavi was another invited guest for the programme.
The Resource persons for the CME were Dr. Shilpa Avarebeel, Associate Professor, Dept. of Geriatrics, JSS Medical College, Mysuru and Dr. Sukesh M K, RMO, Hi-tech Panchakarma Hospital, GAMC, Mysuru.
Chief Guest Dr. Hemanth Toshikane, Dean Faculty of Ayurveda, in his inaugural address spoke on the importance of understanding Parkinson’s disease. He stressed that honesty and truthfulness are the key qualities a doctor should possess.
There were two scientific sessions.
Dr. Shilpa’s presentation was much interesting with the practical demonstration of the condition Parkinson’s disease with its etiopathogenesis, diagnosis, prognosis and management was well explained.
The second speaker, Dr. Sukesh M K, in his presentation gave brief introduction regarding Parkinson’s disease and detailed explanation of Kampavata, its idana, samprapti, rupa and chikitsa. He also enlightened us regarding the Ayurvedic management of Parkinson’s disease with his clinical experiences and successful case studies.
One of the sponsor for the program Mr. Ganesh Prashanth, Divisional Sales Manager, Gufic pharma, biosciences, known for their innovative and high quality pharmaceutical and herbal products, serving since 1970, introduced a new product GUFIC SPON(soft gel capsules) in cervical spondylosis. The CME was jointly sponsored by AIMIL Pharmaceuticals Ltd.
The CME was a wonderful knowledge session with interaction regarding understanding of Parkinson’s disease in both contemporary and Ayurvedic point of view, with more than 200 students and teaching staffs benefited.
