The Department of Research and Development, JSS Ayurveda College and Hospital had organized an online webinar on June 03, 2021, on the topic “Drugs Update” in association with the Arya Vaidya Shala, Kottakkal, Kerala, as a part of Academic and Research activity, to mark the Satapoornima Celebration of the legendary Yugapurusha Padmabhushana Dr. P.K. Warrier, and submit profound gratitude and salutations for his contributions in the field of Ayurveda in India and the world.
The session commenced at 12:30 pm with an invocation by 2nd year BAMS student Ms. Rashmi M.K.
Principal Dr. Sarbeswar Kar extended a warm welcome to all the distinguished guests and the gathering, delegates across 39 Ayurveda Colleges. He requested all the participants to give a standing ovation as a tribute to Padmabhushana Dr. P.K. Warrier, on the occasion of his Satapoornima celebration.

Dr. G.C. Gopala Pillai, CEO, Arya Vaidyasala, Kottakkal delivered the inaugural address. He spoke about the need of drug research in Ayurveda.

Shri R. Mahesh, Director, Medical Education Division, JSS Mahavidyapeetha, Mysuru was the chief guest. In his address, he stressed on evidence-based clinical practice and emphasized the role of Ayurvedic pharmacy in the health care of the community.

Dr. P.M. Warrier, Chief Physician, highlighted the need of undertaking new research in Ayurveda by the younger generation.

Dr. T.S. Madhavan Kutty, Chief (R&D), Arya Vaidyasala, Kottakkal, enlightened the participants on the new generation drugs like Rhukot, Migrakot, Gynakot, Acidact, Crackpot, Ayush kwatha churna, etc., along with their analytical and clinical aspects.

Dr. K.V. Rajagopalan, Deputy Chief Physician, AH&RC, Arya Vaidyasala, Kottakkal, spoke about the classical preparations like Vilwadigulika, Indukanthamgulika, Marmagulikaetc, along with their clinical importance. He also opined that some classical preparations like Bilvadi gulika etc., are useful to treat Coronavirus.

The post-lunch session commenced with an introductory guest speech by Dr. Indira Balachandran, Project Director, CMPR, Arya Vaidyasala, Kottakkal, wherein she highlighted her rich experience on testing parameters for the genuineness of drugs.

Dr. C.T. Sulaiman, Senior Scientist, CMPR, Arya Vaidyasala, Kottakkal, spoke on the medicinal plant research of drugs like Bhallataka, Danti, Dravanti, etc., and also threw light on Ayurveda integration and advancements.

The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Sujit S. Warrier, CMO, Arya Vaidyasala, Kottakkal, Bengaluru Branch. The Principal, JSS Ayurveda Medical College, Mysuru, once again expressed his deepest gratitude to the entire management of Kottakkal Ayur Vaidyasala for associating with the unique and auspicious program.

More than 450 delegates from across India attended the webinar on Zoom, Youtube, and Facebook live. 189 delegates from 34 Institutions actively participated in the webinar.
