INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY- 2020
The Department of PG Studies in Swasthavritta conducted a series of programmes on the occasion of the International Yoga Day -2020 under the theme “Yoga at Home and Yoga with Family” .
1.FACEBOOK LIVE WORKSHOP ON PRANAYAMA
Online demonstration of techniques on Pranayama and different Pranayamas were taught from 15-6-2020 to 20-06-2020, from 11.00 to 11:20 a.m everyday, for the convenience of the family members so that they can view the program at home. Along with this, benefits of yoga was also informed.
2.NATIONAL WEBINAR ON YOGA
A National-level Webinar on Yoga was organised on 20th June, 2020. Dr. Raghavendra Rao, Director, CCRYN, New Delhi, delivered the inaugural address. He spoke on the importance of International Yoga Day, in specific to the current situation COVID-19 Pandemic and conveyed that all the people of the country should practice yoga by staying at home and by following safety measures. Dr. Neetin Kumar Patil, Associate Professor, Department of Integrative Medicine, Sri Devaraj Urs Medical College, Kolar, delivered a lecture on the topic “Lifestyle Disorders and Yoga.” He specifically quoted the yoga techniques, with special reference to bring down stress. Dr. Shivaprasad Shetty, Dean and Professor, SDM College of Yoga and Naturopathy, Ujire, Dakshin Kannada District spoke on the topic “Yoga in Pre and Post COVID-19 period”. He addressed the importance of yoga practice, which helps in tackling health problems during pre and post COVID Pandemic. Dr. Chandrashekaran, Research Co-Ordinator, CCDC, and New Delhi, spoke on the topic “Yoga in Cardiology-Evidence and Relevance.
He advised that the people by adopting practice of yogasana and pranayama, including meditation for daily half an hour every day can improve Cardiac health. Dr. Rajesh A. Udapudi, Principal, JSS Ayurveda Medical College, Mysuru.
FACEBOOK LIVE YOGASANA
On the eve of International Yoga Day on 21-06-2020, Sunday, a Live Yogasana Demonstration was conducted from 7:00 a.m to 7:45 a.m. Principal, Faculty members of Swasthavritta Department and Internees participated in the programme. Nearly 700 members viewed the programme.
