Sasya Sambhrama – A mass plantation program on the occasion of World Environment Day – 2019 was observed at the JSS Ayurveda Medical College, Mysuru, on June 10, 2019. The program was organized by the Department of PG studies in Dravyaguna, JSS AMC, Mysuru, in association with the Karnataka Bank Ltd. The theme of World Environment day 2019 is “Beat the Air Pollution” and hence the emphasis of the program was to create awareness about the health impact on human beings due to air pollution and its countermeasures.
The program began with an invocation of Lord Dhanvantari by Dr. Shambhavi. Dr. Apoorva J M welcome the guests and audience. The chief guest of the event was Mr. Jagadish, Assistant General Manager, Karnataka Bank Ltd, Mysuru. Sri Shivashankarappa, Director of Horticulture, JSS Mahavidyapeetha, Mysuru, Sri Kumaraswamy, Retd. Director of Education, UIHS, Shivamogga and Dr. Jayaprakash Narayan, former Vice President of CCIM, New Delhi graced the occasion as guests. The program was presided over by Dr. Rajesh Udupudi, Principal, JSS Ayurveda Medical College, Mysuru. Staff and postgraduate scholars of Department of PG studies in Dravyaguna as well as undergraduate students of JSSAMC, Mysuru, actively participated in the plantation program.
The chief guest of the program Mr. Jagadish emphasized the necessity of mass plantation in present days and also praised the efforts of the Dept. of Dravyaguna. Sri Shivashankarappa, guest, stressed upon more productive measures to be adopted in environmental protection. Sri Kumaraswamy narrated about the depleting water bodies and fresh air for the present generation due to human interventions and promoting protection measures for the betterment of future generation.
Different species of medicinal plants were distributed to the guests and students, which were planted in the JSS AMC, Mysuru premises. Dr. Aswathy, PG Scholar rendered a vote of thanks.
